Mid-week and still pushing

Half way through the toughest week of the semester.
Very Pretty
I am currently on the bus— that interminable ride on the 15x that connects UCSB and SBCC… and I decided to start typing. For a fraction of a second, I was tempted to start complaining about how tired and busy I am right now, blah blah… but then I took a deep breath and realized what is actually going on around me. Headphones are plugged in— music fires me up. I am wearing nice clothes (required by the kind of day that expects me at school today) — and that makes me feel good. Outside is sunny, it’s warm, it’s beautiful— and that makes me so so happy.
Truth be told, almost nothing is bad enough to complain about, when you have the fortune to live in such a pretty and sunny paradise here in SoCal… This is one of those times I have to appreciate the fact I live in Santa Barbara… Thank you mom and dad for valuing my wellbeing above anything else. <3
Here’s how this Wednesday looks like for me.
10:00am — get up! Well, I meant to get up at 8 this morning but… oh well… Everything else can wait. Finally I had a chance to catch up on sleep, I really needed it. Yesterday I was at school from 9am to 10pm— NO BREAK WHATSOEVER, not even for lunch!
Waking up two hours later than I was planning, I didn't get anytime to workout, but that sounded to me like an excuse, so I just took 6 minutes to do a very intense mini-workout with no breaks. Somewhere I read that, according to science, as little as 30 seconds of maximum intensity workout will change the blood-flow in your body for that day… I haven't verified if that is true, but I wanna believe it, and I hope those 6 minutes weren't completely wasted! Rushing through shower and breakfast, I was able to catch the bus on time.
11:00-12:00am — bus ride… fun.
12:00am-1pm  — International Day! Sponsored by the SBCC Ambassadors and the International Office, our annual International Day celebration is a beautiful event on the patio outside of East cafeteria. Students, staff, faculty, and community members will share food, music, art, kites, henna, and performances to showcase and celebrate the global diversity of our student body!
1:00-2:00pm  — Check out the Gradfest, where I will buy my gap and gown with a nice discount, and the Summer and General Internship & Job Fair, where I will hopefully get a chance to talk to some job reps!

2:00-3:30pm  — Get some studying done! I have two midterms tomorrow, Intro to Philosophy at 12:45 and Intro to Macroeconomics at 6:00pm… wish me good luck!

3:30- 5:15pm  — A Lecture on American Inequality! This is the main reason I am all dressed up today… As I mentioned before, the Economic Club of Santa Barbara has organized a discussion panel today, Wednesday April 20, at 3:30 PM in room PS 101 on East Campus. Cynthia Benelli, my Econ professor who also teaches at UCSB will be our guest speaker. She has not communicated to us what will be the focus of her talk, so it will be very interesting to find out later today.
5:30-6:30 PM  — Phi Theta Kappa leadership meeting. Like every Wednesday, I get to hang out with those fantastic human beings in the PTK honors society. Now that we are done with our main event, the PTK conference titled “Shaping the 21st Century,” I am curious to find out what we are going totally about. Hopefully we will introduce the issue of the Induction Ceremony for new members, which is usually held at the beginning of the semester; unfortunately, this year the Phi Theta Kappa headquarters have changed the rules, generating a great deal of confusion among PTK prospective members, as well as current members, leaders, and faculty advisers.
I will let you know what happens!
A presto,

- Fede
